CranioSacral Therapy
What is CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy began in the early 1970's by an Osteopathic Physician
and Researcher, John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M. It is a gentle method of
detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms
to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system.
You can benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease.
How is CranioSacral Therapy Done?
CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed. Light touch is
used, generally not more than the weight of a nickel, and the practitioner
monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential
restrictions and imbalances. The practitioner then uses gentle manual
techniques to release those problem areas to help reduce undue pressure on
the brain and spinal cord.
A session of CranioSacral Therapy can last anywhere from 15 minutes to over
an hour. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other bodywork and
therapeutic procedures.
