Native American Healing
An Introduction to Native American Healing

Native American Healing is usually taught by the elders of the Tribe through oral tradition
to the next generation.  This has been the way for thousands of years.  Many aspects of
Native American healing are kept secret and are not written down because it is believed that
sharing healing knowledge too readily or casually will weaken the spiritual power of the
healings.

If a non-Native American wants to learn Native American healing then they must be chosen
by an Elder of the Tribe to learn these sacred ways.  I have been fortunate enough to have
that opportunity. I have studied and am continuing my studies with a Navajo Native
American.

The Native American that I have been fortunate enough to be chosen to work with and learn
from was born in Arizona, United States, and was raised by his family in the traditions of his
people.  He has served as a translator for the Navajo Elders in a legal battle for his family
and community's right to remain on their ancestral homelands.  He has also been before the
United Nations and the Congressional Committees in Washington, D.C. regarding the same.

My mentor also works with the youth in Flagstaff.  When he is not healing, working with the
youth or helping with the legal battles for his family and community, he continues on the
reservation in Navajo Nation, as a carpenter, silversmith, rock carver, storyteller and
teacher to his people.

He has given me his blessings to practice what I have learned from him and bring this way of
healing to my clients.

Just as in Reiki and CranioSacral Therapy, during a session, you may feel heat, gentle
manipulations and releases.  These releases may be on the physical, mental, emotional and/or
spiritual levels.  It is not exclusive and healing may occur on more than one level.  It is what
you are in need of and can vary from one healing session to another.
